GST Registration
One tax regime, a lot of moving parts to track.
In force since 1 July 2017, the Goods and Services Tax replaced a tangle of earlier indirect taxes with a single regime — but for restaurants, it comes with its own recurring compliance calendar.
What this licence covers
Any restaurant crossing the prescribed annual turnover threshold — or operating in certain categories regardless of turnover — is required to register for GST and start charging it on every bill. Rates and input-credit rules for restaurants have shifted more than once since 2017, which is exactly the kind of change that's easy to miss while running a kitchen.
Registration is only the starting line. Monthly or quarterly return filing, reconciling input tax credit, and staying current with rate notifications that apply specifically to the food-service sector are the parts that actually take ongoing attention.
We handle both ends — getting a new restaurant registered from scratch, and keeping an already-registered one compliant so a missed filing date doesn't turn into a penalty.
Who needs it
Restaurants and food businesses that have crossed the GST turnover threshold, or that fall under a category requiring mandatory registration.
