Fire NOC
Proof your kitchen is ready for the worst-case scenario.
A restaurant kitchen runs on open flames, gas lines and electrical load all in one room — which is exactly why the Fire Department's No Objection Certificate exists.
What this licence covers
The Fire NOC is issued by the state or city Fire Brigade after they've inspected your premises for fire-safety equipment, exit routes, electrical wiring and gas-storage practices. It confirms that, on paper and on-site, your restaurant is set up to prevent a fire — and to handle one safely if it happens.
Requirements scale with the size of the premises: a small café and a large multi-floor restaurant with a commercial kitchen are held to different equipment and exit-route standards. Renewal is periodic, and it's commonly cross-checked when your Health or Trade licence comes up for its own renewal.
Because it's a genuine safety inspection rather than a paperwork formality, getting the physical setup right before the visit matters as much as the application itself.
Who needs it
Any restaurant, especially those with a commercial kitchen, multiple floors, or seating capacity above the locally-prescribed limit.
Documents typically required
- Building layout and floor plan showing exits and fire equipment placement
- Proof of installed fire-fighting equipment (extinguishers, hose reels, alarms)
- Electrical wiring and load certification
- Occupancy or completion certificate for the building
- Previous Fire NOC, if this is a renewal
